I am so glad to see so many other people on here as anti-Annie Camden as I am. My GAWD that woman was always so overlydramatic about EVERYTHING!!!
Like on the episode that was on yesterday when they were planning a surprise b-day party for Eric and she was trying to get him out of the house, she got all melodramatic.
And I hated how she treated her kids because they weren't even allowed to make the slightest mistake! I mean heaven forbid one of them should slip up and accidently call her "mam"...she'd banish them for weeks without food, or water.
And, yea, she was alot kinder to people she hardly knew, like when she was so sweet and loving to that woman who was getting a divorce and then throwing that semi-feminist tyrant at Eric!
No wonder the eldest daughter left!! If I had that dragon lady for a mother, I'd give myself up for adoption!! And, my god, poor Eric!!
even though it had an important message i absolutely hate the "tunes" episode with a passion. because it is basically about how women are superior to men and need to be treated like royalty, while pretty much every episode of this god awful series basically makes it okay for the female characters to be disrespectful to the male characters. case-in-point, how annie camden stomped all over eric camden over everything the man said and did. and how the women matt got involved with took him for granted. and what was with simon always dating the bossiest girls on the planet?! i understand about treating people with respect, but this who was telling us that only women deserve respect because they are the better sex, while men deserve to have their hearts stomped on and treated like dirt. i especially hated the whole chest-hitting thing annie did to assert her power. who wrote this show anyway? a group of femme-nazis?!
I absolutely DETESTED Ruthie and Annie. Annie was okay the first few seasons, but then she turned into a superbitch. If I were her husband I would have strangled her in her sleep. Ruthie I always hated. She wasnt cute, she was a pathetic little brat who everyone appreciated waaaaaaay more than she deserved. And I didnt mind Lucy, but then when Kevin came along she started acting exactly like her mom, and got all pissy because he wouldnt propose to her. Couldnt blame him. Not a bad show in itself, but those characters completely turned me off and I didnt watch the last 3 or 4 seasons out of pure hate for those three characters
I agree the whole dating/relationships thing got way outta hand on the show. But I disagree about the person who claims this show encouraged girls to be co-dependent on guys, because if you think about it, Matt was the one who was like totally obsessed with having a steady girlfriend. He was even worse than Lucy. He would take these long trips across the country after some girl dumps him, or turn into this emotional headcase. Then he wonders why his grades started slipping and why his own roommate, John, couldn't stand him. I really hated it when the two pretty neighbors went to his and John's place for dinner and Matt starts blubbering and balling like a baby over that Shanna girl, who I never really liked because she kind of took Matt for granted. He even started at the one girl's pants and was like, "Jeans...Shanna used to wear jeans!" and the girls are like, "Awwwwww..." If it were me, I'd either be SOOOO outta there, or I'd tell him to "SNAP OUT OF IT!!!!" And when he told his mom, Annie Camden (AKA the NASTIEST mother even on television!!) that he wanted to move to drop out of school and move to New York to be with Shanna, she doesn't do anything to stop him, nor does she tell him not to put his education on hold over some girl, instead she frets about a STUPID CLOCK!!!! Of course, she was more worried about one of her daughters calling her "just MOM", but her son is basically willing to throw his entire college career away over a girl and she could care less. If this were one of her daughters, she would sit them down and give them a whole song-and-dance about how it is wrong for women to throw their lives away because of a man. Anyway, then he gets that deaf girl back and is about to marry her, then she runs out, and he's failing all his courses because he's so pre-occupied with her! So, to say that this show was bad because the female characters were co-dependent on men, thus sending out a bad message is stupid, considering it was Matt Camden who was the most neurotic over women! If anything, he was sending a bad message to guys. All in all, now that I think about it, this was a severely messed up show, and I don't even know why I bothered spending nearly ten years of my life watching it!
i don't think the boy twins were necessary. they always do that on tv shows. Like full house once michelle has gotten out of her cuteness level they borught in twins nicky and alex. why twins why couldn't she have one. they weren't necessary.
I know! Man I couldn't believe how obsessed these kids were with dating to the point of getting married before they were even out of highschool! What made it even worse was the message that was being sent to the core demographic, impressionable young girls. "You can only be happy as long as you have a steady boyfriend!" and how depend on a guy for EVERYTHING!! Like when Mary flushed her entire career down the toiled so she could end up with that loser Robby. And how Lucy lost all self worth whenever she couldn't get someone to go out with her, or she'd break up with someone. In real life, take it from someone who is still in High School herself, not having a boyfriend is NOT the end of the world.
I've been reading all the posts about this show and I do mostly agree with them. However, the posts that said that this show dealt realistically with serious issues are laughing stocks! Every once in a while they'd touch on something serious like violence and racism, but for the most part all they seemed to deal with was dating woes!! For a while the only people outside the family who had any sort of severe problem were the boyfriends/girlfriends of the Camden kids, to the point of where they would become the main focus of the entire show! The later seasons were a joke because we were seeing more of these add-on characters who I for one could give two squirts about! They had all the potential in the world to touch on serious topics such as body image, cancer, AIDS, homosexuality...but NO!!! The #1 problem aflicting the Camden kids was dating problems!! My god, could Matt Camden be a bigger wuss?! So some girl broke up with you...GET OVER IT!!!! And Lucy was practically ready to throw a major fit if she didn't have a boyfriend!! I even remember Mary's main motivation for giving up going to college and getting into the trouble she was in was so she could be with Robbie one minute, then Wilson the next! And Simon always had a habit of dating girls who would walk all over him and treat him like a whipping post! And we all know little Ruthie was just a preschool headcase who turned into another teen nightmare! What really made me mad was how the parents were always preaching to the kids about treating others with respect...how about teaching them about being independent and thinking for themselves?!?!?!?! And I agree with all the Annie-haters on here, because she was a raving lunatic, getting all over her kids' cases if he/she made even the slightest little slip-up! Like if one of them would mispronounce a word, she would go, "I would like to talk to you about pronouncing one of the most IMPORTANT WORDS IN THE ENGLISH DICTIONARY!!!!!" My god...and yeah she was nice to all her female friends and to women she just met, but she treated her own family like ****!! You're all probably wondering why I know so much about a show I hate. Actually, I didn't hate it when it was on initially, like for the first several seasons, but right after Mary got in trouble and was sent away was when the show became unwatchable for me...now I watch it in reruns and now that I'm older, I've come to realize how truly horrible this show is.
It appears to me that a vast majority of 7th Heaven viewers are woman-haters. What's the deal here? Though the female characters did tend to be overbearing and moody at times, I thought they were great, strong women who didn't take any crap from men! I guess either all you clueless losers are either used to Marcia Brady and her flirty ways, or watching one too many episodes of "The Hills", "Gossip Girl" and "Desperate Housewives" to see what women are really like.
yeah all the femmenazi man-hating stuff made this otherwise enjoyable show downright unbearable!

and i have 2 words for annie camden...

**PRO-ZACK!!!**
The one episode yesterday was bordering on "Femme-Nazi Abuse"!!!

The one where, first, Annie calls a TIME OUT!! and leaves her family to go rest on some desserted beach somewhere with her dog and she was nicer to that lady she didn't even know than she was to her family. Then Simon's whiney girlfriend giving him sh&t because he didn't wear a blue shirt!! And then Mary, who is all p&ssed off because a guy wouldn't call her, snaps at Simon and goes on her "I-HATE-ALL-MEN" tyrade telling him HE should call that whiney little b&tch!! Then Simon goes to tell his dad that his girlfriend is mad at him because he wouldn't wear her (HER) favorite shirt. And he agrees with HER!!! Then she shows up and yells at Simon some more then reprimands him for not walking her to the freaking door (which, as Simon points out, is only three freaking feet away!!). Then later he calls his girlfriend apologiing and she says, "I'll only forgive you if you wear my favorite shirt to school tomorrow."

Okay, HUUUUGE double standard here!! A girl treating her boyfriend that way (making him wear a shirt she likes and then breaking up with him because he forgot to wash that shirt) is perfectly acceptable...but if the situation were in reverse, if a guy talked down to his girlfriend for not wearing a shirt he likes, it's considered domestic abuse!!

Seriously, I have come to realize that this is one severely messed-up show!! All that is being "preached" here is that women are the superior sex and us inferior males have to worship them no matter how badly they may treat us, or how much they belittle us, or boss us around. Yet if we men even dare to raise out voices to a woman, we are monsters.

I don't hate, or dislike, women at all...I just hate double standards.
this show jumped whenever matt was all hung up on that shanna chick! he went from being a man to being a wuss! "oh, shanna!!" "please come back to me, shanna!!" i personally thought she was ugly and nasty!! he could have done alot better....like me!! *kisskiss*
I first watched this show during its initial run and used to really enjoy it because in contrast to all the Friends, Seinfeld, Sex in the City and Ally McBeal stuff always on TV at least for the first couple of seasons it was a nice family show that often dealt with serious issues. But then the whole dating and sex thing took center stage and all anyone seemed to care about was finding the right "soulmate". Not to mention Annie was really mean and hostile alot of the time, less like a loving mother and more like a nightmarish schoolteacher. I think the show really went downhill after Mary went bad, because up until that point she was such a great character. But then she trashed the school gym because the faculty locked it down so that the basketball team could pull their grades up and of course Mary had to cry "sexism"! Then when Mary sprialed even further by quitting school and taking a bunch of jobs not being able to keep them and eventually stealing from her own family. Lucy really grated on my nerves with all her whining about being in the middle, or being left out all the time and how she was always so jealous of Mary. And like everyone else, I was also utterly bothered by Ruthie to the point of wanting to punch her lights out whenever she appeared on the screen with her frizzy afro. But really Mary's rebellion was when this show became another "Melrose Place"/"90210"/"Dawson's Creek".
Oh lighten up you jerks i like the show, no i love the show it's entertaining, warm hearted and flat out humorous i especially liked tunes when Simon was rapping, LOL!!!!!!!!
I could not stand all the Ruthie crap!! I mean whenever they were doing a really good episode about a serious subject, or something intreguing, it seemed like Ruthie was in eveyone's face going "LOOK AT ME!!! LOOK AT ME!!!" Oye!! She was sooooo annoying!! Like when Mary rebelled against the team lockdown and we got a load of Ruthie burping and farting to be "a guy"!! It's like rather than focusing on all the IMPORTANT stuff on the show, they had to shove that annoying little piece-of-crapola and her curly hair in our faces!! And let's not forget about how absolutely b%tchie Annie was!!
This show wasn't all that bad but it was filled with feminist propaganda.

Rather than saying all men and women are created 50/50, they were saying that girls and women are superior to boyd and men.

And I am sorry...I hated, hated, HATED Mrs. Camden with a passion!!

She was so hostile towards her family, even to her own kids....yet whenever someone outside the family was having a problem, mostly another female, she took her under her wing.

No wonder poor Eric had two heart attacks!!
