I loved DALLAS...the good seasons & the bad. The dream season was good...the Donna/Ray adoption storyline and the Sue Ellen recovery storyline were WELL done. The "dream" was a cool idea. When the character of Pam left it caused a hole in the show. What hurt even more was the right off of the character of Donna at the same time. We lost too much. Ray came next (didn't care that Jeanna was gone.). Then, when Sue Ellen left...I knew there was not much time left. I thought the Pam look-a-like was gonna be the real thing and the JR/Pam rival would be back...but no. The best thing about the last two seasons was Barbara Eden in the final season. Now, if they had kept her on there...WOW.
Funny that this show's first season was 1978, the same year porn classic Debbie Does Dallas came out.
the last comment could not have said it better.jr and sue ellen were the best part of the show.i grew up watching it with my mom and now watching it on dvd still feel the same years later
UP UNTIL I SAW THE RE RUNS ON TVLAND - I THOUGHT THE DREAM SEASON AND THE LOSS OF PAMELA WERE WHAT RUINED THE SHOW- NOT TRUE -
LINDA GRAY WAS A HUGE REASON DALLAS WAS THE SUCCESS IT WAS - AND WHEN SUE ELLEN WAS WRITTEN OUT - OL' JR WAS NEVER THE SAME AGAIN- THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN LARRY HAGMAN AND LINDA GRAY WAS INCREDIBLE!!WITH
THE LOSS OF LINDA GRAY, THE SHOW CHANGED DRAMATICALLY, AND NOT FOR THE GOOD.
I watch TV to be entertained. And what passes for drama in this day and age is pathetic. Dallas was a true guilty pleasure, with great actors and interesting plots.

Now, when did I get sick of it? The season poor Pam was killed off. I'm sorry, but I felt like I had suffered a true lifetime, waiting for Bobby to dump that loser Jenna and go back to Pam. And I jumped for joy when her Italian ex kidnapped her on her wedding day to Bobby.

Then we thought Bobby had died, then there was the dream(Mark Graison being there helped ease the pain of Patrick Duffy's exit). But I thought the dream was a FABULOUS idea! It's not like 'Dallas' was 'Days of Our Lives'. There just would not have been a very good explanation as to why Bobby had not died on a show, that was not known for 'returning from the dead' plots.

After Victoria Principal left, I couldn't take the Bobby/April relationship. I could've stood him being with Abby from Knots Landing before her. And J.R.'s marriage to that teenager was just vomit worthy. Sue Ellen's leaving was the final nail in the coffin and I hated the finale.

But it was good for longer than most series.
When they got rid of Linda Gray *Sue Ellen* worst decision ever (her leaving)
I cant believe some of these posts. Take Dallas for what it was...drama...drama...drama! It was on the air for 13 years and was one of the most successful shows on the tube. The entire dream season sucked hard, but I think it rebounded after Pam was burned to a crisp ( thank God). That woman and her mental breakdowns made me nuts. Bring on April. She was kick ass for Bobby.

in my opinion, the day the writers killed her off in the last season was the JTS point. ( even though she requested it to Larry Katzman as she was pregnant and knew the show was over).
Jumped when we were subjected to an entire summer of "WHO SHOT J.R." hype. Summer of 1980.
People who thought this was a bad or silly show love the moronic shows and reality shows that pass for TV today. Quality has been gone for years. This simply parallels today's naive, gullible, and liberal society.
Was anybody else totally icked out when Ray turned out to be Lucy's uncle? Not just uncle, but uncle-by-blood?

Did they expect us to just forget that Ray and Lucy had a torrid affair in the first season?

Eeeeeewwwwwwww!!
it was after the very first eposode "MIAMI VICE" WAS MY FAVORITE FRIDAY NIGHT SHOW DALLAS WAS OVERRATED
that pipsqueak character carter mackay replaced can't think of his name WHO CARES? bottom line: i can't beleived i once watched this drievel
carter mackay was a jerk he replaced some pipsqueak that was the last straw in retrospect it was dumb show everyone in the cast was a ham
I remember that Lucy was with Ray. I also remember that Pam was an old flame of RAy's. It was on way too long. I watched it for years right up until the dream season. Then I lost interest. Funny but I began watching it in NYC but then relocated to aboaut 10 miles from South Fork.
I prefered the way life was in the dream. Does anyone but me remember
that in the beginning, Lucy was
sleeping with Ray, who was later
revealed to be her uncle? I'll never
forget how angry I was when they
replaced The Carol Burnett Show
with this. Then I grew to love
Dallas and watched it until the end.
I agree, it was on too long.
