I Love the Fact that it looked at faith from all different aspects and told the Native ways along with many cultures . It showed how unloving the christ. people could be and how many misconceptions come at lack of comunication from people who look or act different from "our" ways. This show was wonderful. Erika Flores helped carry the show for the young women and when she left ...she left a huge hole that stained the show. I think they should bring it back NOW 2008 with HER and the ALL TOWN members like they are doing with 90210!!!
I love the show and just recently bought all of the dvd's. I liked Erica Flores better than Jessica Bowman. Joe was/is HOT!!!!!!! Chad Allen, also! and little Shawn Toovey.
It is the best tv series I've ever watched. Watched it when I was younger and again now at 26. Seeing Erika Flores replaced I thought it was going to be dull but Jessica Bowman fit in just right. I even found her more affectionate than Colleen. Anyway I'm now watching season 4 of the series and I have to say since that episode Washita I felt like something has gone, something that kept this movie alive. The Cheyenne people were part of this world, were part of Michaela's world and I got very dissapointed when they died in such a masacre. I've even cried and understood Michaela and her sadness. I wish they could have changed something in the script so that we could go on watching this show with the same passion as before. Since Washita it seems something is not right, even their marriage. Marriage came after a bad moment. The series doesnt have that sparkling it once have when the Cheyenne lived. At first the Cheyenne got me bored but when I saw how these poor people got killed, like Snowbird, Black Kettle, No harm, etc. etc. I felt horrible. I felt like it happened to me. And seeing Cloud Dancing settle in the Palm Creek reservation didn't seem right. Things are evolving, people changing and the culture of the Cheyenne people dying. It's so sad because we had to learn so much about them. I think that this traditions are something to be treasured a whole lifetime and I think Washita is a memorable event that shows us that people can comit great mistakes in their stuborness and stupidity. I will always remember Snowbird and all the others that made Dr. Quinn even more wonderful. For me Dr. Quinn kind of ended there at that moment because now it feels like an empty space waiting to be filled. Bless all those who died there by fighting for their traditions and their beliefs.
I remember watching this show, but it did loose its magic when Michaela and Sully started to get married.
Its like the same with the whole "Daphne/Niles" relationship, you are on the edge of your seat but then you regret ever wishing that they would tell each other that they love one another. Because the fact that they didn't know was what made watching thier characters all the worthwhile.
I was too young to like boys back then, so I enjoyed seeing Sully just for the sake of his wolf pet. He was so cute!
Despite some of the historical innaccurances (I don't think they were aware of breast cancer back in the 1800s) some of the characters were fun to watch-espically the episode when two of Michaela's guy friends dress up as women to attend a "ladies Night" at the tavern and one of them gets held hostage by a bunch of robbers with one of them hitting on him not knowing he is a guy. HILARIOUS SCENE!!!!! lmao!

All I have to say is no show is made like this anymore. It's a good heart felt show and you can never get enough.
This show was just plain silly with it's political correctness and a 40-something year old woman acting like a 18-year old ingenue around her younger, big tough mountain man. Every new man who came into town was required to fall in love with Dr. Mike at first sight. And, everyone (including the mountain man) had perfect, straight white teeth.
Love that revisionist history.

This show never jumped the shark. I absolutely adored this show then, and I still do today. The stories, the conflicts, the characters, the resolutions.. they were all wonderfully done. I loved the new Colleen and the old one. Sully was a brilliant, sexy character, Dr. Mike was flawlessly portrayed, Cloud Dancing was magnificent. Even Brian was great, and I normally don't like children actors. The townspeople were like most people: a mix of bad and good.
I do agree it was a bit annoying how the townsfolk always forgot their valuable lesson by the next episode, but if they had remembered the lesson, there would only have been enough conflict for half a season. It was a necessary evil.
Was very sad when the show was canceled. Am just glad they are on dvd now.

The premise of the show was a great idea - A female doctor in a small town in the late 1800s. But, that's where it stopped being as good as it could have been. If Dr. Quinn had been played by a better (preferrably American) actress and the show been kept to what reality was at that time, instead of the preachy, finger-shaking, politically correct crap it ended up being, it might have been on longer and been a whole lot more interesting and watchable. I'm just sayin'.......
I am so glad to vent my frustrations on this website. I miss "good" t.v.!!! At least Doctor Quinn only got down to her petticoat and I can let my children watch. Television now is far too explicit and without moral value to even consider. In a world caught up with reality telivision I miss Doctor Quinn and the comfort of these wholesome characters. Another great series for Quinn lovers is the Avonlea series or the Christy episodes....I hope this helps ease the loss of good tv to some of you!!
I loved that show dr quinn i grew up with it. Sully is soooo hot. Hank was sexy also dr mike was really pretty. The first colleen was my favorite jessica bowman did a good job. My favorite episoide was the thanksgiving one where johnny cash sang that romantic song. I recently bought the movie. Its great
I did'nt know that Sully was going to "jump off" until i read this. Iam a 15 year old DQ lover! I just love it! You know here in sweden it runs again (witch is lucky for me because i wasn't ever born when it started airing). I just wanted you all to now that if you're a DQ nerd; you're not alone
I want anyone who finds the fact that Michaela ran for mayor as too early in American history to know that the first women's right convention happened in 1848 in Seneca Falls, NY. It is very possible that a woman could have tried to run for mayor of a small city in the 1870's. A lot of states in the Union gave women the right to vote way before 1920 in their elections. It was only the national elections that women were kept out of until 1920.
Since cancellation of Dr. Quinn's show, all we have to look forward to watch on Saturdays are reruns of CSI shows. What became of decency for family shows? Not many teens are at home on this night, so why the cancellation? Joe and Jane were a perfect matched couple before and after they were married. Lots of humor, family crises, uproars, based on Am. History, so why not treat families with wholesome shows like this? Very little to do for those of us who were fans of this show. I will always treasure this show, as my mother who is now deceased, look forward to watching her, and seems like we all were touched by the drama series, and became more like a family to us than just a TV series. Thanks for all other faithful watchers!
I love the show. My mom has the DVDs and I've been watching them all for the first time. I think it's a fun show, and I think it had great potential, but for me it became less interesting after Sully and Dr. Mike got married. It seemed like everything was an excuse to show them kissing, and hinting at sex....
