"I agree with one of the people named Guest, on page 8. I do think one of the reasons Jill stayed with Tim was the sex."

That was me! Yup, Jill was the prototype of today's woman, who will gladly keep having sex with some guy, then complain to all her friends afterwards about how pathetically inadequate he is before having sex with him again and again. There just didn't seem to be any other real reason for them to be together.
Tim Allen's grunting is what turned me off from this show. I found it obnoxious instead of funny. What made it even more irritating was my brother imitating the grunt sounds constantly. Other than that, this was a good family show.
When the kids hit puberty the dynamics got kinda messed up, but though the shark emerged slightly, it never really jumped.
Home Improvement became my favorite show once Full House was cancelled.
i liked the episode "home alone" where tim is trying 2 write his book but is distracted by many things. i thought it was funny. i have all the seasons, and even though they run constantly though syndication on tv, i never get tired of this show. tim was hilarious and charming, jill was a great mother, wilson was the kind of neighbor i'd like 2 have (kept 2 themself, but was there when you needed something or just a friend 2 talk 2. the kids were cute when they were little and as the show went on and they grew older i liked how they started addressing points that teenagers stuggle with.
great show.
I agree with one of the people named Guest, on page 8. I do think one of the reasons Jill stayed with Tim was the sex. I mean, they (being Tim and Jill) make comments that hint that all the time. Yes, It probably wasnt intended to seem that way, but it is assumed. She is intelligent, and he is kind of a stupid ass sometimes. But, Jill does become a bit of a b*tch when she goes to college. But, they are still the cutest couple, because they joke with each other and do have wonderful chemistry. And, lets face it, half the time there is a more intelligent one and a bit dumber one in every relationship. And, they do make a point to say that Tim has a good education, just not so much common sense and a childish spirit about him.
I somewhat agree with Ryan. I am a girl, but I know plenty of males who watch this show. I was born the year this came out, and I watched it a little growing up, and barely ever miss it now. Me and my cousin quote lines from the episodes all the time. Like "You fired the granite guy!" and "Think car cover" as well as "Demolition derby, or sexy wife?" They make us laugh.
I don't know how the last poster can claim the majority of the viewers were female. I was around 10 when this show first aired and I, along with my two brothers, watched this show from day one and loved every episode. To this day, my guy friends and I will quote various lines from all the episodes. One of the classics of my generation.
Home Improvement was ABC's replacement series for Full House. The main difference was that the children were boys instead of girls. ABC was hoping that HI would attract more male viewership than Full House. But I don't think it worked. The audience for both of these shows was overwhelmingly female.
I have been watching some reruns of this on Nick at Night lately and I would have to reverse my position on this one. I would have to say that it never jumped. True, when Jonathan Taylor Thomas left the fins were sighted, but the show actually did alright without him, they wrote him out in a very realistic and clever way. It actually did end on a very positive note. You can say that they portrayed "Tool Time" as jumping the shark. It ended with the unfortunate truth that sometimes our dreams do get crushed but that people can rise above.
Home Improvement was a very funny show until Jonathan Taylor Thomas left the show. The whole premise of the show was to focus of the misadventures of the three sons getting in trouble. Randy was the one who kept the show together because he was the wise-cracking obnoxious middle son which made the show funny. Randy was really intelligent while Brad the oldest son was popular and athletic and Mark was the caring youngest son. Even though puberty made the show hopped a little, the jokes that Tim makes towards his youngest brother Marty and his best friend Al and wife Jill kept the show going as well as the well-meaning advice and philosophy from Wilson. Without a doubt, Home Improvement jumped when Jonathan Taylor Thomas left the show.
What I want to know, is why in the world people try so hard to tear down this show. Would you rather everybody watch MTV? I bet half the SOBs trashing this show, are the same people who think that rap music, and MTV is too explicit for kids, but then you trash shows that aren't teaching 5th graders what a BJ is? As, one of the kids that people try to say "grew up tp fast" partially due to TV and music influences, bash a show that there is a good reason to bash.
I hate shows where the wife is an unhappy bitch 100% of the time and treats the husband like an idiot ( i.e. Home Improvement, Everybody Loves Raymond, King of Queens, etc. ). The mom on this show never showed her upper front teeth.
Which episode did Brad take drugs? Can somebody please give the series number (e.g. season 6 etc) and episode title. Thanks.
It is cute!
