What's really pissed me off about the post-doubled Jeopardy! is not only did it occur mid-season, at a time when games were won, champions had been retired, but that they rank the post-doubled winners right alongside winners from the pre-doubled Jeopardy!. As if they all made the same $50K the same way.

The $100K on Jeopardy! today is NOT the same $100K Frank Spangenberg got back in 1990!
It pretty much jumped recently when they added the new music, and terminated the fill board sound at the beginning, before this it was tolerating, but now you can barely hear the opening music over the announcer! That irks me, it sounds wimpy compared to the announcer.

The fill board sound (doo-doo-doo-doo-doo doo-doooot!)always gave you a hint that the game was about to begin, now it just sits there, it's not the same.

The big long ramp started with clue crew, alex requiring the players to let him ask the entire question before answering, the new hodge-podge squares all over the place set (ick) (I miss the one with the big sliding glass doors with Jeopardy on the side that was my favorite one) stricter rules, slower pace etc.

The new think music which I thought was great at first STINKS.

It's not the same.
Why you all hatin' on Ken Jennings? I'm sure his winnings help buy tons of temple underwear and bicycles for his fellow mormons!
I fell out of the habit of watching Jeopardy! several years ago. Alex Trebek's smugness and pompousness are VERY annoying. Art Fleming may be largely forgotten by now, but he was a WAY better host than Alex -- too bad Art isn't with us anymore (he died in 1995).
Art Fleming was so much better than Alex, but the show continues to be great despite Alex. Aside from his smugness, the man has no sense of humor; any time a contestant brings up something funny in an interview, you can be sure that Alex will bring all laughter to an abrupt end with a poorly timed or off-the-mark comeback.
I've been seeing some of the episodes of "Tic Tac Dough" featuring Thom McKee, and I strongly--strongly--believe that Thom was a more interesting champion there than Ken Jennings ever was on "Jeopardy!". One reason why is that Thom didn't have the annoying smirk that Ken Jennings always had.

I used to like "Jeopardy!," but considering the direction it's taken, I've gravitated more recently towards "Tic Tac Dough."
I think Jeopardy jumped the shark in 1997, when they adapted the "Sushi Bar" set and ditched both the classic theme and the classic "Think!" music. Since then, they've been trying too hard to make Jeopardy "sophisticated". Jeopardy's always been sophisticated. Nothing's going to change that.

Another jumping point was in 2000/2001, when contestants stopped walking onstage. Game show careers usually last one day, if they're lucky, so it's probably the most recognition they'll ever receive. Especially on a game show like this. They deserve the honor of having their name and accomplishment(s) presented.
Tuned in to NBC last night (Friday) to see the last night of the Jeopardy Tournament of Champions, and the opening of the Olympics (stunning as it was) preempted it!

Does anyone know who won or if it will be shown somewhere, sometime in the future?

Jeesh!
I like this show overall but Trebek is a pompous jerk - I would know all the answers too if they were on the screen in front of me. Beenz, I am with you on the French thing. Even though he is French-Canadian, there is something about the way he says things in French that is unnerving. Too tight and not Parisian. Et le seul moyen de parler francais justement est a la parisienne!
Will I get clobbered on here if I say that I would give anything to have Art Fleming back as host? So much better than Alex 'I know more than you do, nanananana' Trebec.
To Rob: Of course there's no explanation needed because all American TV game show hosts traditionally come out with mustaches on April 1, a very important holiday. Every fool knows that.
To KoopaKid17: Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't these open auditions, with anyone who qualifies making it onto the show?
It's beginning to irk me that for Teen and College Tournaments, the women outqualify the men. However, the men always semeingly outperform the women. If this is attempt at affirmative action, it definitely isn't working.
the show with the mustache in the beginning was April Fools Day. I don't think they needed to explain that, and didn't you notice one of the contestants trying not to laugh at it???
I hate it when he speaks French. And every stinkin' episode they have to have SOME French thrown in someplace. What's French for pretentious?
