Why was it such a big deal that Peewee was caught "playing" at that place? When the idiots who had nothing better to do that tell the world what Peewee did, it ruined his career and the show followed suit.
I too love Pee-Wee,but the first two seasons were superior to the later shows. There was a gap of a couple of years as Mr. Herman lobbied for money, not for him,but for the show itself. The CBS execs had complained that "Playhouse" cost almost as much as an "adult" show, such as "Cagney and Lacey".Mr. Reubens answer to this was that "shouldn't we want the best for our children?".When production resumed, some of the spark was gone. The introduction of the horrible Mrs. Steve didn't help, and I missed Dixie, the cab driver.{R.I.P. King of Cartoons, aka William "Blacula" Marshall}...
What happened outside the show, stays outside the show. I don't care what he did (especially since no one was hurt), it has nothing to do with the show itself.

Pee-wee's Playhouse never jumped. It never even got within the general vicinity of the shark.
I was a fan of Tito too! Does anyone know what Roland Rodriguez is doing these days? There is not very much information on him.
A female friend of my (she's in Mensa) recommended it to me. Funny show. Funny guy.
Although I was a big fan of Pee Wee's movies, I could never get into this show. The show and movies were like night and day to me.
i like reubens hes a good actor i will miss phil hartman
My parents sat me in front of the TV at 10am every saturday morning for the first 5-6 years of my life, and after that i lived off of vhs recordings of the show. I never stopped loving this show. I still have my peewee clothes and little action figures and now im saving up for the big playhouse playset they used to sell. His humor and creativity is and always will be unmatched. I say God bless Pee-wee! :^O
It's funny to read these comments. So many different names for Mr. Happy.
Ironically, this show started out as a naughty parody for adults. Paul Reubens and the Groundlings, including the late Phil Hartman and Cassandra Peters, had a kind of nightclub act that HBO picked up. It was never, ever intended to be a real children's show. Some lame brain at CBS just didn't get it, approached Reubens about hosting a real children's show, and Reuben's dark sense of irony prevailed. He never really liked doing it by the way. He much preferred the raunchy parody.
Pee Wee getting caught in an adult porn theater, how lame, isn't that what they are for? I feel he did the responsible thing as an adult, he went to a specified place for this type of action out of character where NO children would be, where it was dark and the only way someone would know who he was, was a pervert themself following him in trying to get a glimpse at Pee Wee doing the deed. As far as I'm concerned the perv that turned him in followed him and watched to get his own jollies and make a few bucks. People took it WAY out of context and as for the idiot who brought the child pornogorphy to court recently is just that an idiot. First off the so called child porn was a collection of very collectable, very old magazines. Second are we going to charge everybody with porn that has old playboy or the old health and/or medical magazines because they to have pictures of young children and/or adults nude. Again the idiot that brought up the old magazines was looking to make a buck and/or a name for him/her self because Mr. Rubens was starting to make a comeback. The one big rule this nation has forgotten is respect of others. Yes we as a nation has forgotten to respect our actors, singers and idols personal lives. They are human beings too and deserve to have a break to be themselves unless they are causing ACTUAL harm to others. They should be treated like everyone else. Finally I don't recall EVERYONE who was ever seen in or coming out of adult theaters arrested or tried or for that matter ALL adult theaters closed down do you? It seems that if you can be made a buck off of your not aloud to be human or have a life. Sorry Pee Wee, I miss your show and wish you the best of luck. I'll always be a fan. To everyone else a person and their character are two different things, I'm sure you behave different at work compared to home too. Start useing your brains people not fantasy land and the almighty dollar!
I was in my late 20s when this was on and it was the hippest, most creative thing I had seen in years! A wonderful show for everyone. It was a shame how it had to end (Pee-Wee in the theatre), but compared to what Lindsay, Britney and Paris offer up on a daily basis, what's the big deal? Great show!
Never jumped. Compare the quality of this show to the tripe that usually passes as kiddie entertainment. It doesn't talk down to it's audience. It has great production values and a cast of colorful character and one of the greatest collection of kitch items ever. Plus cool music each week by Mark Mothersbaugh, the Residents, Danny Elfman, Todd Rundgren, and who wouldn't want a wish granting head a head in a bejeweled box. Great show. Mecca lecca hi mecca hiney ho!
My favorite was Roland Rodriguez -- a/k/a "Tito, the Pool Boy". Man, I couldn't wait for him to show up every week in his Speedos!!!!!
i love this show even tho its a children show with hidden sex references like playing with big underwear or stuff with miss yvonne

good show even tho the star whacked off in a theater
