Scrubs has always been my favourite Television show. It's humour is absolutely brilliant. I don't think no matter how hard they try that they could actually "Jump The Shark". I love John McGinley's character (Dr. Cox) because of his personality as most people do. Scrubs is doing marvellously, it's suceeding past Friends who had actually just broken apart at it's peak and I think it all went down-hill since the 'Ross-Emily' saga. Scrubs can't go downhill, it's such a great show and I'm sure that a huge percent of the population agree.
Jumped Day One. Never thought it would be funny to make fun of death, dying, disease, and sickness. It wasn't.
Scrubs was great, and it's still alright I guess, but I think the whole JD/Elliot thing has been dragged out to a ridiculous extent (to quote Cox "You're not Ross and Rachel!", although that one was overdone to a ridiculous extent as well really). And can't they see that they will never, ever be happy together for longer than five minutes? They're both too needy and insecure and they're both so self-destructive.
The characters have gotten less believable; there's a fine line between offbeat quirkiness and just plain stupid. The Janitor in particular was so much better in the first four, maybe five seasons. And the writers have obviously ran out of ideas as they're going with the same old pregnancy formula that they have done for the past two seasons. The whole baby thing bored me to be honest.
But the question still remains, where exactly did Scrubs jump the shark? I honestly don't think it was one event; the show just ran out of steam gradually. I watch re-runs of the early seasons a lot, but I can't be othered with the newer ones.

Im not sure when exactly but about 4 or 5 series in the show lost its dark edge and just became a whacky relationship comedy.
I enjoyed the relationships between the characters in the first few series but there was a certain darkness to alot of the humour which seems to have gone. Now each episode will have one whacky storyline and one serious storyline side by side instead of one serious yet humourous storyline.

Probably at the point I realised that JD has basically made out with everyone.
Elliot - need I say more?
Carla - That drunk smooch, then more full on in Turk's fantasy.
Turk - A drunk night in collage, then again to prove his kiss with Carla was innocent.
Jordan - They did it.
Then every new woman that comes into the show is going to be JD's love interest. Plus Dr Cox and JD's relationship is a SLASH writers dream.
Basically for a guy who's implied never to get any, he sure gets around.
I'm just waiting on the episode where JD makes out with The Todd. Speaking of Todd, there's not enough of him.

I wish I could write that Scrubs never jumped for me. I really liked it for its humor that was original, offbeat, just freakin' funny. Great characters, poignant stories...sigh. I have had some trouble pin-pointing when exactly Scrubs jumped the shark, because it still has its moments. I guess for me the show was killed by a thousand little jumps--everytime JD did "Floating Head Doctor", or puttered around on his scooter, or any time at all when he got that obnoxious look on his face. You know, the one where his eyes are all wide and he's got that stupid open-mouth grin on, sticking his chin out while nodding...yeah. I wanted to smack him. It's a shame too, because the other characters, especially Dr. Cox, all stayed spot-on throughout the series. For the most part.
They also liked to have sex whenever possible, and with whomever was available at the time.. Honey, this is nothing compared to how you will feel when you`ve been on the medicine for a week," Kitten said in a low sexy voice.. Guilt If for any reason you attach shame or guilt to sex, you will not feel relaxed and will not achieve satisfaction..
Well, right now Scrubs is circling the tank for what seems like another jump over the proverbial tank with its move to another network (it is ABC, right?). However, when you think things go downhill, the writers come back and surprise the holy living hell out of you. There was the Cox mini-arc at the end of season 5, there was the entire JD finally growing up at the end of season 6, and the farewell to NBC was flat out, completely brilliant, with none of the let down of the final ep of St. Elsewhere (it is too painful to mention).
This show actually started out quite funny. It wasn't a cheap knock-off of ER or Gray's Anatomy. It had good characters, fresh perspective and surprisingly good jokes. Unfortunately, like so many other sitcoms, it eventually became all about the characters having sex. Over and over, ad infinitum, ad nauseum. It quickly lost it's appeal for me. Go watch Hogan's Heroes instead.
I started watching reruns of Scrubs, 2 eps a day, 5 days a week and caught up to the end of series 4 I think, where JD moves out of the apartment in only a few weeks. Then the reruns ended. I was tempted to watch the latest series even though it's against my TV principles not to watch in sequence. HORROR! All the babies in the hospital with their supposedly working parents, Kelso narrating and showing his (ugh) human side, Cox with blonde highlights behaving like a parody of his former character, some girl pregnant with JD's baby who I'd never seen before, a road episode, a coffee shop. I was sweating with embarrassment. It was just like the already suspect episode where JD imagines his hospital life as if it were a sitcom. One giant leap over that shark.
