Wow 7000 for day one? I'm dissappointed, it may had reach it's peak in the in the seventh season, but definitely did not jump at day one
I wouldn't say it jumped the shark as much as it reached its apex... around the period of "The Pilot".
seinfeld is a mean spirited show.
never jumped!!! seinfeld's breakthrough was right around the keith hernandez episode & thats when it became huge.. however, the show started to lose its edge in the later seasons by making a show about nothing into a show about something, but it was still funny to watch.
It started out okay even with Jerry's gawdawful nasally voice. Soon the plots revolved around the most idiotic trivial nitpicky b.s they could find to whine about. It was Jerry & George's parents that turned me off the show.

Listening to them bicker was more pain than I could take. I'd go effin nuts listening to the likes of them.. Gads, how did they manage not to cast Rosie Perez, Fran Drescher and that guy who played Squiggy on Happy Days.?
Seinfeld was an okay show, but I think its popularity has already waned dramatically over the past few years.

None of the characters have lasting romantic relationships and most can't keep friends (except each other) or jobs (did Kramer ever actually work?).

I don't think it will ever have the lasting popularity that I Love Lucy does.
This show was excellent up 'til about '95. Elaine changed her hair and became very mean to George and also turned into a Slut. George became even more Whiney than usual, and the episodes altogether just seemed to become more and more ridiculos.
Try to get your screening process fixed "smartypants". I hate the new trend of the comedy today (According to Jim, 2.5 men, George Lopez) they're all garbage, but I hate Seinfeld too. The script was smart I will give you that, but smart =/= good or entertaining. The show was really bad for most of it's run, the early seasons were just great, but it's like when people actually started watching it, they dumbed down the show so it'd fit the general public (episodes focus more on Kramer, George just yells *supposed to be funny*)
I think the people who never liked this show are the same ones who think "According to Jim" is funny.
If you're going to list a reason why it jumped, at least get it right!

Jerry robbed the old lady's marble rye and called her an old bag, not an old bat.

sheesh!

I say it jumped when Kramer became too ridiculous.
Greatest and funniest show ever. If you don't get it...your loss.
The synopsis:
Three guys and one woman go around making the lives of everyone around them miserable either intentionally or accidentally. Usually the latter. Though Kramer is the nicest of the four (though he does bug Seinfeld by popping in at random). You either like it or you don't.
Seinfeld humor is simple and easily understood; a derive of all knock knock jokes.
They tried hard... too hard. It was only alright, the situations are so made p especially at the end where we felt like they're gonna make the characters fly just to make them meet at one point. In the end it added "nothing".

props to the commenter who noticed it copied "garry shandling's show" I didn't think anyone still remember that show
"Do you now who I am?!!!!" -JS Ya an adult who dated a teenager. Also just because Seinfield yelled his lines did not make the lines funny.
