k stop saying well it has gotten worse but i still watch it cuz its better then anything else on tv. no it is so dumb now it is worse then most of whats on tv and secondly how can you still watch it i have to think hard to remember how the episode even started anymore when i do watch it because it is so random and all over the place it has no real plot
"the "real people" shows are the ones that tend to be phony with their spotless clean kitchens and guys who wear shirts to sleep...so unrealistic "
I guess I and probably a third of other guys are not real, then? :p

I've seen episodes and ideas i've really liked about the Simpsons. But based on watching it on the internet, it's too much Lisa playing the Sax and cute elements like saving the Cow. If they want to make the Simpsons the Michael Jackson side then I think they need to emphasize that type of material more and make it more family orientated. The Glenn Close had the aquarium material which is great and some funny things at the start most notably the start of what could have been a great set-up with Marge controlling the situation at the mall and Homer like the youngest one in the situation. I know that the work for the SImposons must make it hard to keep up quality but it's not the quality that is suffering as much as the direction. Including putting in so many things that are Jewish when Jewish isn't what makes the show work- the ehhhhs, the mom always likes you best routines and so on. It's like on Keeping Up Appearances that is put on for me by someone else- she is brilliant in her role but the stuff like breaking the China and so much more- when does it go away? It 's why I want to watch the Olympics and non-fake reality or documentaries like King of Kong or good Conor Knighton- he seems off now- but real shows that show you want you can do in life from reality. What we want is Homer as the representation of what is wrong with the Pop Culture and America and yet why can't we just enjoy it like him?- and the rest with the physical comedy. When it matches Homer's true self instead of him becoming a Bongo Comics James Bond type character or almost as bad Mr. Super PHD with the intellectual put down that is not cool or funny and out of sync with Homer who cares I am indifferent to the show. Now watching Itchy and Scratchy and laughing or Homer focusing on the food in the political ad or Homer getting Marge or even albeit in an older-fart type of way the romance from Lemmon Candies and the butterscotch generation- that is more like it. Homer getting hurt in funny ways or stuck in the water slide- that with the comment on American society and culture is why we would watch it. But increasingly I want to turn off the TV and explore how I can get around the construction, sprawl and corporate crap littering my city and figure out what to do as an alternative when dammit the Simpsons should be something cool to watch in off time from those activities. We want the exaggerated and ridiculous but not in the version of a weak Comic book James Bond hero and so on- we want the reflection on how we are killing ourselves and America and how America is becoming less America and all through it how to turn those lemons into Lemonaide in the way only Homer can do and then stuff like enjoyig the Mexican shows. Glenn Close is not cool as the mother. The sister who liked the old guy should be the Feminist activitst in an episode and go after Homer as a male chauvanist pig with an appearance from HIllary putting down Homer with the women mocking him. I don't understand why they don't get how to nail the show- it's like they are trying to kill it. And use it to reflect on what is wrong. But what we get is increasingly a cute focus and Homer saving the day like he is on 24 but not in any danger of failing- and so i have to wait until they will let me watch the Olympics/Top Chef where things are are least somewhat closer to the original and intended reality. But I will say that now the Simpons is making Bongo Comics look good plus it can get the under 10 crowd to awww, isn't that cute at it. So maybe that is the goal who knows? If I want Children's stuff then I can get it from the non 80s Gumby on the Essential Gumby DVD and it's much cooler. Like the Episode with the Robots. Bur you know they are probably into the trillions with profit and the blonde women that tick off the Jewish women and so on and walking around the studio with them on their arms and showing off like boyish nerds and they don't even think they are going to die and feel like immortal plus they just don't care if it sucks they have too much fun elsewhere and the Simpsons gets in the way. Wow my secret word to get into this post is bonking- everybody scream!
I was a huge fan of the Simpsons for years, but gradually started feeling like I could relate to the humor less and less. I liked when the episodes contained more "family" related plots or Bart's friends getting into trouble. For me, Marge was a funny supporting character but once she started getting more time and there were entire episodes devoted to her and her opinions, needs, worries, etc. it started feeling more like a Lifetime TV movie than a funny cartoon. (Except the "road rage" episode, featuring "I sentence you to kiss my ass".)
When it got really bad for me, though, is undoubtedly when Homer got more and more wacky and started acting like a Looney Tunes character. The fact that there wasn't really much of this stupid humor was what made the show so appealing to me in the first place. It became too full of guest character appearances and there was too little of the subtleties and oddballs that made the show so funny, originally. After seeing the previews, I definitely didn't even consider bothering to see the movie.

I didn't bother to see the movie. The simpsons has well passed its 'sell by date' to have a movie. I think it's a pretty desperate appeal for popularity.
The Simpsons used to be intelligent, but now it has sunk into madness. A lot of people don't know this but that's because (and I'm sorry to say this) the general public are thick. The die hard fans are the ones who realise the change. The other random people probably welcome the madness, because it is more on their level.
The writers run out of material, thta's all. I also wrote it about Spongebob, too. The people at my school once watched it in class, and they only laughed at the physical jokes, not the inteeligent humour. And it's happening everywhere. When I saw 'spider pig' I couldn't help but realise that this film is aimed at the general public who find that kind of 'low brow' stuff funny. They are the kind of people who once laughed at a serious advert, that involved a guy falling from scaffolding to the floor, that discouragesd the drinking of alcohol in the cinema.
Unfortunately it's true: popular programs have to finish at some time. But because they are popular, the creators just churn out more rubbish to keep it going. And it's always been happeing.

Like King of the Hill and Family Guy, this show can never jump for being phony...the "real people" shows are the ones that tend to be phony with their spotless clean kitchens and guys who wear shirts to sleep...so unrealistic
Um, when they decided that Betty was the most beautiful person in the world who was entangled in every love-concoted plot going on, Henry and Gio? why would either find her remotely likable or attractive.
In the first season, Betty was trying to find her footing but in the second season, they changed things and Betty was in every single plot that was forced and contrived.
I like the show best when the supporting characters get stories and most of them are great actors with great characters but every episode, its about Betty's love conquests or how everyone loves her etc
The series lost itself

"This show jumped when I grew up...
There is nothing more annoying than being around a bunch of adults past the age of 30 that want to sit around and watch cartoons on Fox all night long on Sunday... "
Now...that was harsh!

The Simpsons took a huge nosedive after season 9. Im not sure, but i think i must have seen an episode and realised i was watching a different set of characters to what i was usd to. Season 1-9, they were light on their feet. Hilarious little asides that were not allowed to hang around, absurdities that didn't make you think 'that was just stupid'. Now i won't even watch it if an episode from season 10 to the present is on. I know that i will barely raise a smile, which is a terrible thing to say. The other day though i saw a golden oldie, the film festival episode. I have watched it far too many times, but i still laughed out loud, from "Are you saying boo, or boo-urns??", to Mcbains 80 million dollar stand up routine movie, it was amazing. I will remember it like this!
I was watching the 30 Minutes over Tokyo episode, which was the last one from Season 10. The chalkboard gag said "I'm so very tired." This episode aired in 1999. It seems like that was an omen for what would become nearly a decade of garbage to come, and I include the movie. Will somebody please take this tired old pony out behind the barn and shoot it? There are probably enough episodes around that will allow it to live on in syndication by showing a new one every day of the year without repeating. Since it is out on DVD, people will buy that. The show will live on forever, is that not enough?
