Damon Wayans is funny and talented, as he always has been since he was in "I'm gonna get you sucker". I can't comment on the new Claire, because to be honest, I only get a chance to watch the old reruns. Franklin is annoying. Little kids acting grown up has always been a stupid concept. On that note, what everybody needs to realize is that it is the writers that make the show what it is. Unfortunately, they try to make Damon's character into the stereotypical controlling overly passionate, always sexually aroused Black man that tv writers still unfortunately try to portray Black men as. They also portray Tisha's character as being a little too submissive for someone who is an independent, professional educated woman, to go along with Damon's character too much. In real life, educated professional minorities don't act that way, and Junior would not be that stupid, either. Yes, we are very passionate about what we do in life, but not all the men are controlling and horny all the time, and our women are more independent than ever. And yes, we act goofy. Of course. Blacks and Latinos are amongst the funniest people this country has, but just not to the point of Junior, of not being educated. It's not just a show, because shows have to have credibility in addition to being entertaining. Overall, it's not bad, they just need to adjust the husband/wife and son characters a bit to give minorities, and more specifically Blacks in this case, their proper respect. We have come a long way, and the US needs to start admitting that.

what made the show cool in the first place is mike(damon) being smarter than his kids and hes overprotected with his daughter and trying to make her miserable its got lame when mike is almost as dumb as junior and hes the one getting in trouble .you must admit the terry crews and katt williams episodes were funny.(also they took out the family meeting <no repurcussions> which i think was smart) by 3 or 4

I never did know Claire the first very well; I know she left the show after a friend of hers got pregnant; that is the girl who was Olivia on the Cosby show. I really loved watching My Wife and Kids. Claire the second is the one I really know.

My wife and kids is a pretty funny show and it did not jump the shark. Damon Wayans was just as funny as he was on In Living Color. Tisha Campbell looked much sexier than she ever did on Martin. Jennifer Freeman was the more sexier and funnier Claire (no offense to the 1st one)and Jr was so stupid thet he was very funny. The most annoying person on the show was Franklin! I could not stand that annoying little weasel and that kid nearly made the show jump the shark. Franklin is basically Steve Urkel at age 8 and is the type of kid where you just want to beat him silly.

Jennifer Freeman doesn't consider herself to be black. On her myspace page she refers to her race as native american. I think that only black actors should get black roles...especially since they are in short supply.

I don't think the show jumped with the new Clair. I think the 2nd one was a lot better than the first.

It seems as soon as Junior's girlfriend had gotten pregnant, the whole show had went downhill.

The show was actually pretty good at the first few seasons, but by the fourth season, the show just got stupid.

Making Franklin, Tony and Vanessa main characters, WRONG THING TO DO. The show was called "My Wife and Kids", not "My Wife and Kids and my son's girlfriend, my daughter's boyfriend, and my other daughter's annoying ass friend".

Like I said, it was good at the beginning, but horrible at the end.

Jumped when the kid's girlfriend got pregnant. Show was ruined for me. Why oh why do they always think that baby making and the subsequent birth is the answer? Seems to me it almost always never works. Other than that, I thought the hubby and wife were a cute couple and the kids were alright.

I completely agree with Noel. It is a good show and no one seems to remember that. And the old Claire sucked monkey balls. Franklin rocks, I loved it when Junior's GF got pregnant, the Raven episode rocked and "Uuuuh, nuh" is the greatest TV quote on earth

This show is tied with Martin for the dishonor of being the most stupid, outrageous, unrealistic, whiny portrayal of African Americans. Jay ia absolutely repulsive - a stupid, emotional, irrational, control freak who's married to an almost-idiotic husband. How the actress (if you can call her that) who plays Jay can stand being known for playing this type of woman is beyond me (unless they are so like her that she doesn't see how playing them degrades the public's perception of her). The story lines were inane, and the cast was marginal at best. That this show made it into production, let alone prime time proves the network execs must be brain-dead. This show jumped the shark in the first episode.

love it. jumped when jr's girl was knocked up and aggravating mess of a child Franklin was there. but its great.
