One of my favorite cartoons of all time! This show never jumped! I agree with the last post, as I too grew up with the cartoons of the 1990s. They just don't make cartoons like this anymore. Who could not love the crazy antics of Yakko, Wakko, & Dot (Wakko was my favorite among the 3.) I also liked Slappy Squirrel & Pinky & the Brain. The Goodfeathers were ok but the other characters sucked though (Mindy & Buttons, Rita & Runt, Chicken Boo, the 2 Hippos) Very funny, entertaining, & creative. the songs were very good (my favorite was Dot's "I'm Cute" song.) The writing & voice acting was also in top form. I also liked how "Animaniacs" sneaked in adult humor despite being aimed at kids. Even some of the more educational segments were fun, & I was one of those who didn't like when the FCC forced networks to air more educational stuff. Overall, "Animaniacs" never jumped!
this show never jumped the shark. i loved it the entire time it was on the air, and as a cynical 22 year old college student, this show is even better watching it as an adult. and as for those who said it was forced to become educational, yakko's world was in one of the first episodes that aired. the show also poked fun at "forced educational value," and was self-aware. if you ask me, this show is just as good as the simpsons was at its peak. this has to be the best kids show of all time, and i think it helped pave the way for shows like family guy, with random pop culture characters showing up. this show is a thousand times better than shows meant for kids today, like spongebob, the mighty b, etc. i miss cartoons of the 1990s which had as much material for adults, as it did for the kids. this show is no exception, and i think it even blows tiny toon adventures out of the water for its quality.
Ok, I understand there are many arguments over animaniacs. Unfortunately, I have discovered many negative comments, but that doesn't change me.
To be perfectly honest, I was born in 1995. So for me, animaniacs was only around for another 3 years, in which I believe I discovered the most amazong, comedic cartoon ever.
Yakko, as my favourite, I think stood out a little more than his siblings.
And adult jokes? Slapstick humor?
I laughed anyway.
And Wakko's Wish..... Oh my. My first 3 years of christmas, it would be my first thought on that 25th of December, and I'd watch it while opening my gifts. And even if I didn't understand what was going on, I was still curled up on the sofa, crying my eyes out about the fact that Dot was on the verge of death.
A well told, beautiful story.
And overall, the Animaniacs songs. Amazingly written, surprisingly educational..... I could go on.
Also, I actually wouldn't mind Yakko as a singer. I mean, I've heard there's a CD of Bob The Builder singing!
Youtube is now my source of the cartoon, but I wish Animaniacs would return.
Best Wishes...

it may be best to leave them to rest until some morron decides to bring them and back and butcher the show, or worse; make a bad animated movie!
it was a great show and featured lots of jokes we didnt get back then. look it up on youtube sometime
*shudders at the thought of a live-action Animaniacs movie*

The Animaniacs never jumped the shark. They were always innovative and the comedy of it is still fresh, especially if you watch it now and realize all the jokes you might not have gotten about Censors or Executive Meddling then is hilarious now! Also, for those who think the show jumped after it turned educational, it ALWAYS poked fun at this in one form or the other. Take "Wheel of Morality" shorts for instance...
Katie Ka-Boom was, by far, the best Incredible Hulk parody ever.
Better than the Infraggable Krunk, the Incredible Hippo or even Saturday Night Live Hulk parodies.

Loved gags like the "Wheel of Morality", but hated the educational stuff, which amounted to little more than propaganda for the agenda of the Clinton administration. It's unfortunate the wheel never actually landed on "Bankrupt". That would have been honest - and, in my view, the most hilarious thing ever to happen on the show. It was already funny that the space was there.
The Animaniacs was a cartoon show that just broke the 4th wall. Even if they were forced to teach something they tried their best to make due with it. All the stuff in the shows still work. Ya some things were censored but what did the show did? They made a cartoon WITH networks rep's trying to force them to make a cutey cartoon. Rather than the slap stick comedy that they do. They NEVER jumped the shark. Nothing majorly new was put in. They made a group and stayed with them. No major new characters, no major new settings, it was the solid group of people we knew. Lot's of singing and the Warner Brother and Sister basically stayed the same in how they acted. Heck I think even the movie did well.
I will say when it was forced to become educational. although some of those songs they do are good, it just seemed to take away from the no direction of the show, other than that i dont think it ever jumped
good show. I'd love to see it again over shows such as "Chowder", "Spongebob Squarepants", and some bum show, uh what, umm? "Johnny Test"? "Animaniacs" proves that cartoons today aren't worth much. Formerly known as "guest", call me Tha Critic.
Okay hold on a sec. you see that really long comment on page four. I'm not speaking for anamaniacs even though I love it so but I'm going to point something out. It's people like this that make me sick. This person is not crazy or deranged for all such reasons like not enjoying anamaniacs or the 90's. But for rejecting and pummelling peoples joy from this show. This person is obviously in a bad mood and can't even bear to let out a chuckle at slight humor found on any cartoon. As for jumping the shark? It didn't. there are many times where it avoided the shark and we didn't notice. The reason it was cancelled is because a new generation of cartoon artists came along with the new century and apparently these classic cartoons didn't fit their taste so now children must engage in stupidity such as spongebob. On a shorter note: Avatar: the last good show on nick.
Animaniacs could fit fine with today's humor. it is just like Family Guy or American Dad or even the comedian Cathy Griffin but aimed at a younger crowd with much didactic clips. My guess, it it that it was ahead of its time.
I loved Elmira, The Pinky and the Brain, but hated chicken Boo. There was something for everyone... very clever! I CAN"T WAIT FOR A COME BACK!!
